Preparation Day Overview
The first 24 hours when war starts is preparation day. You use this day to edit your war base and donate and receive troops for your defensive war clan castle.
On your base on the map you will see a 'request troops' button. Click this to edit the message for your war base clan castle, to the troops you would like in your castle. If there are troops there you don't want you may remove them and inform chat that it needs to be refilled. You can look at your clanmates' bases and click the 'donate' button to donate troops for their war defense. Make sure you give the troops that they request.
What troops to request:
The troops that are requested on the War Map on preparation day are used for defense of your war base, so you should request good defense troops. There are several strategies people use if you aren't sure. Keep in mind you want troops that can attack both air and ground troops that may attack you, and you want troops that are fast enough to keep up with the enemy attack force.
For TH7 and above it is much harder to predict how they will attack you, so it is harder to know what will be best.
-High level wizards can be good against dragons
-Dragons can be intimidating
-A long string of archers followed by some wizards, witches or a valkyrie can make it hard for the enemy to lure all the troops out
-A witch and wizard combo can catch the enemy off guard
- E drags are also good for the highest th levels as they take lots of damage
What troops to donate:
1. Respect what people ask for, so read the messages they left on their request!
2. Donate high level troops. Please do not donate on the war map if you only have low level troops, leave it open for those with better troops to donate. Troop levels should be: lvl 6+ wizards and archers, lvl 5+ dragons, lvl 5+ valkyries, any level witches.
3. If they haven't asked for anything specific, remember 1 valkyrie + wizards and archers for TH6 and below, and dragons, wizards, and witches for anyone else who hasn't specified.
Also, take some time to look at the enemy bases. Pick out a few favorite possible targets for when battle day starts, but don't get too attached to them! We don't 'call' or reserve targets. If your army takes a while to prepare or needs a lot of elixir to fund make sure you are getting that all ready for your attacks on Battle Day.
Battle Day
How do I pick who to attack?
There will be a recommended target for you based on your possible attack power. Usually, you will want to look at several targets near that one to find one that works well with your attack strategy. For example, if you are attacking with dragons you would look for weak air defenses; if you are attacking with hogs you would look for one that doesn't have too many hidden traps; if you are attacking with giants you would look for one with no giant traps and with weak walls. You also will want to look at the replays if anyone has already attacked the targets you are considering. Also consider how many NEW stars are available on the bases you are looking at.
What is "luring out CC troops" and why should I do it?
When you scout a base before attacking it you can click on the different weapons to check their range. Use this time to find the range of the CC and how many troops are in it. Drop troops inside the range of the CC at the beginning of your attack until they have all come out. This can be done using several barbarians, archers or perhaps a giant, just make sure they are all out.
Once they are out then drop troops near the edge of the forest away from the base to lure the CC troops away from the base and all defenses. If there is a building on its own in the corner just attack it and they will all come to you. Once they are away from the base, surround them with archers, wizards, and barbarians (if appropriate) to kill them. You can also use lightning to weaken or kill the CC troops, but if you do this do it when they are all out of the CC, but you have no other troops on the screen so they are standing still. It is very easy to miss with lightning, so be careful.
If you are using hogs, giants or balloons, killing these CC troops first is absolutely crucial! These troops will ignore the CC troops that are attacking them, and die quickly. If you are using dragons then it is less important, but still can be helpful. Some of their defense troops can fire at air attacks, but the dragons don't have a preferred target so they will attack the troops back instead of ignoring them and getting clobbered like hogs, giants, or balloons.
Before you attack:
1. Remember C.L.A.N. :
Choose your enemy carefully
Look at available replays (to see traps/troops they use)
Attack their defense troops FIRST (lure them)
Notice the corners and easy, undefended buildings
Choose, Look, Attack cc, Notice
1. Make sure it is time for you to attack (or check with an elder, co-leader, or leader if you need to attack early for some reason)
2. Scout the base you plan to attack. You may have a designated target based on our clan attack strategy. If not, then choose one that your attack style will work well against, and where you think you can get 3 stars. Always go for the most stars for the clan
3. Make sure your army is all ready - spells are finished, troops are finished, barbarian king and archer queen are well rested, and your regular Clan Castle is full of good attacking troops.
4. Attack, while remembering C.L.A.N.
